West Haven’s Extended Board and Train: Give Your Labradoodle Puppy a Head Start

Teddy as a puppy- a stud for our program at west haven australian labradoodles

By West Haven Australian Labradoodles · Branson, Missouri

Our extended board and train program lets your Australian Labradoodle puppy stay with us for one to four weeks after they're ready to go home, at $500 per week. During that time, we work on potty training, crate training, socialization, and basic manners, so your puppy comes home with good habits already started. You skip some of the hardest parts of puppyhood and get a clear plan to keep the progress going.

What Is a Board and Train Program?

"Board and train" means your puppy lives with a us for a set period and gets daily, hands-on training. Instead of starting from scratch at home, you welcome a puppy who already knows the basics. It's a popular choice for busy families, first-time dog owners, and anyone who wants the early weeks to feel calmer.

Here at West Haven in Missouri, our extended board and train program is only for puppies from our own litters. Your puppy stays in the home they already know, with the people who have cared for them since birth. That familiarity helps them relax and learn faster.

What Your Puppy Learns During Their Stay

Every puppy gets dedicated, personalized attention each day. We focus on the skills that make the first months at home easier for everyone.

Potty Training and Crate Training

We build a steady potty routine and teach your puppy that the crate is a cozy, safe place to rest. A crate-trained puppy sleeps better, settles faster, and is easier to travel with.

Early Socialization

Socialization means gently introducing a puppy to new people, places, sounds, and experiences while they're young. Puppies who get positive exposure early tend to grow into calm, confident adults. We introduce new things at a pace that keeps your puppy curious, not overwhelmed.

Basic Obedience

Your puppy will start learning simple cues and good manners. These early lessons set the stage for everything you'll teach later.

A Healthy Daily Routine

Puppies thrive on predictability. We set a schedule for meals, naps, play, and potty breaks, with age-appropriate expectations. You'll keep this same routine at home, so the transition feels seamless.

Grooming Confidence

Australian Labradoodles have coats that need regular grooming, so we make it part of their week. Your puppy practices:

  • Being brushed

  • Having their paws, ears, and face gently handled

  • Being lifted onto a grooming table

The goal is simple: future groomer visits feel ordinary, not scary.

Our Training Approach: Positive and Puppy-Paced

Puppies change quickly in their first months. Our experience tells us when to teach, when to play, and when to let them rest.

We use positive reinforcement, which means we reward the behavior we want to see. Your puppy learns through praise, treats, and play, never pressure. This keeps them eager, happy, and excited to work with people for life.

Program Length and Investment

You can choose a stay of one to four weeks, at $500 per week:

  • 1 week: $500

  • 2 weeks: $1,000

  • 3 weeks: $1,500

  • 4 weeks: $2,000

A longer stay means more repetition, and repetition is what makes habits stick. Every option sends your puppy home with a real head start.

International Families

If you live outside the U.S., importing a puppy can require extra time for paperwork and health requirements. Longer stays may be available, so contact us and we'll plan around your timeline.

Keeping the Progress Going at Home

Think of our program as the head start and your follow-through as the finish line. Families who see the best long-term results keep the same routines, rules, and cues we practiced. We make that easy with:

  • Regular updates: Know what your puppy is learning while they're in our care.

  • Training videos: See exactly how we teach each cue, so you can use the same words and techniques.

  • A personalized go-home schedule: A clear daily routine to follow from day one.

  • Follow-up support: We're here to answer questions and help troubleshoot after homecoming.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can my puppy stay for training? You can choose one to four weeks. International families may be able to arrange a longer stay.

How much does extended training cost? The program is $500 per week, so a four-week stay is $2,000.

Will my puppy be fully potty trained when they come home? Your puppy will come home with a strong head start and a steady routine. Every puppy still needs consistency at home to make those habits last.

Will my puppy forget us or bond with you instead? Not at all. Puppies bond quickly with their new families, and the confidence they build here makes that transition smoother.
