Grooming Your Australian Labradoodle
Australian Labradoodles have a signature teddy bear appearance that sets them apart from other doodle breeds — soft, balanced, natural, and effortless. Getting that look comes down to finding a groomer who understands the breed.
The most common mistake is treating an Australian Labradoodle like a Poodle. Trimming the face too tightly, narrowing the muzzle, or removing too much coat from the legs and body can completely change the way your dog looks. The goal is always to preserve the breed's natural softness, not to sculpt it into something more structured.
When looking for a groomer, ask specifically whether they have experience with Australian Labradoodles. The trim is different from a generic doodle cut, and a good groomer will know why.
We've put together a short guide that covers the full grooming routine, what to ask your groomer, and how to maintain the coat between appointments.
Your puppy cannot visit a groomer until 16 weeks of age and all vaccinations have been completed.
