Go-Home Packet

Congratulations on your new West Haven Australian Labradoodle. This page walks through everything you'll receive at pickup, what to take care of in your first 24 to 48 hours, and where to find your full contract and schedule.

What You Receive at Pickup

Every West Haven puppy goes home with the following:

  • Wellness Exam Report from your puppy's veterinary exam

  • BuddyID Microchip Registration Information

  • Trupanion Pet Insurance Pre-Enrollment Information

  • Two-Week Go-Home Schedule

  • Copy of your 2-Year Health Guarantee and Purchase Contract

  • A blanket with familiar scents from the litter

  • A cheese bone or puppy toy

  • A Snuggle Puppy (heartbeat comfort toy)

Bring your leash and collar to pickup so it can be sized on your puppy. Miniatures wear an extra small. Mediums wear a small. Look for a lightweight collar with a small plastic or metal clasp rather than a buckle.

Microchip Registration

Your puppy has been permanently identified with a BuddyID microchip before going home. The lifetime registration fee has already been paid, and the chip is registered in your name before pickup

To confirm your information and complete your registration:

  1. Go to buddyid.com

  2. Select "Register Now"

  3. Confirm and update your contact information

Keep your puppy's microchip number somewhere accessible alongside their health records. If your dog is ever lost, this is how shelters and vets identify and contact you.

Trupanion Pet Insurance

All West Haven puppies go home pre-enrolled with Trupanion

You must call to activate your coverage within 24 hours of your puppy going home. This window includes the day before pickup, the day of pickup, or the day after. Don't let it pass. Activating during this window locks in coverage before any conditions can be classified as pre-existing.

Your Two-Week Schedule

Your go-home schedule is one of the most valuable tools you have for the first two weeks. It covers wake-up time, meals, crate periods, playtime, potty breaks, and bedtime. Follow it as closely as you can. Consistency is the foundation of a well-adjusted puppy.

Crate Training Tips

Your puppy was introduced to crate training before going home. The transition to your house is where consistency on your end matters most.

Expect crying at first. This is normal.
Have a crate cover or sheet ready to pull down as soon as your puppy starts to protest.

Don't open the crate while they're crying.
Only open it once your puppy has gone quiet. If they cry again after being quiet, take them outside for a potty break.

Keep a few safe toys and a bone in the crate so your puppy has something to focus on.

Cover the crate consistently, every time, for the first few weeks.

Don't talk to, pet, or play with your puppy through the crate door. Don't let children reach through the bars. This only prolongs the adjustment period.

Keep the crate in your bedroom or just outside the door for the first few weeks. Being nearby helps your puppy settle and lets you hear if they need a nighttime potty break.

Your Health Guarantee and Contract

Every West Haven puppy is protected by a 2-Year Health Guarantee against serious hereditary and congenital conditions. Your full contract is included at pickup. Here's what you need to know.

Lifetime Return Policy

If at any point you're unable to keep your dog, they must be returned to West Haven. They can never be surrendered to a shelter, rescue, or rehomed to a third party without our direct involvement. We will always take one of our dogs back.

Spay/Neuter Agreement

All companion puppies are sold with a spay/neuter agreement. We do not recommend or perform early spay/neuter at 8 weeks. Your puppy's long-term health comes first. Exceptions are only made when a breeding agreement has been arranged in advance.

Hip dysplasia

This is specifically covered under a separate warranty clause for the first two years.

What Can Void the Warranty

Not completing the vet visit within 72 hours of pickup, changing the puppy's food without written approval from Mariah, boarding the puppy in a public facility before 6 months of age, altering the vaccination schedule provided at pickup

Puppy Delivery Services

If your puppy is being delivered rather than picked up in person, we offer both ground and air transportation. Every puppy travels in-cabin with an experienced flight nanny and is cared for at every step.

How air transportation works:

  1. Complete your Puppy Application and confirm your reservation with a deposit.

  2. We research flight options and present them for your approval. Pet reservations fill quickly, so booking early matters.

  3. We provide an airline-approved pet carrier. You don't need to purchase one.

  4. Your puppy travels in-cabin with personalized care throughout the trip.

  5. We send photos and text updates throughout the journey.

  6. You meet us at your local airport to welcome your puppy home.

Air transportation costs:

  • Airline ticket (varies by flight)

  • In-cabin pet reservation fee: $150-200

  • Trip protection: approximately $35

  • West Haven delivery fee: $500
